A Chinese delegation consisting of thirteen medical doctors and public health specialists from Bonn's partner city Chengdu visited Germany in September 2014. The Chengdu delegation met with experts and policymakers to learn and exchange about public health issues in Germany. The delegation spent one week each in North Rhine-Westphalia, Berlin and Munich.

Germanwatch initiated a meeting at the LVR-Hospital in Bonn on September 18, where the experts from Chengdu got introduced to the concept of energy efficient hospitals. LVR-Hospital Bonn was one of the first hospitals in North Rhine-Westphalia, to receive the Friends of the Earth quality seal "Energy-saving hospital". The implementation of a tailor made energy concept led to a reduction of 4000t CO2 emissions annually.

Dr. Winfried Zacher, Senior Advisor for Climate and Health at Germanwatch (zacher@germanwatch.org) gave a speech on the topic "Climate Change and Health" at the LVR-Hospital in Bonn. After a fruitful discussion with the Chinese medical doctors and public health specialists, the delegation visit was concluded by a presentation and a guided tour through the clinical center.
